How can Aquinov help you to file a patent?
- Aquinov covers a wide range of technical fields :
- - Chemistry / Life sciences,
- - Materials,
- - Mechanics,
- - Electronics / IT,
- - Physics / Laser-Optics.
- Your IP Engineer is there to listen to you and work alongside you during each step of the management of the file.
- He draws up the report in the most appropriate way, which is generally concise to be able to target the invention’s protection – it must be the widest AND the most realistic possible.
- Aquinov personalizes each report which a patent application constitutes: « we draw up a document which really "fits" the demands of the offices AND our client’s project. », an Aquinov Consultant-Engineer points out.
- Aquinov does not necessarily encourage you to file patents, but always seeks the best solution within the framework of your global strategy.
Advice from the Aquinov expert
« Always include the patent issue in your industrial strategy and ask yourself the right questions :
- How advisable is it to protect this invention?
- Am I sure I am not a counterfeiter of a patent which already exists?
- If this invention is free to be used, what is the interest in having it protected by a patent and do I have the right to do so?
- If I have the right, do I protect it with a patent or do I prefer not to communicate about it and keep the skill within the company?
Aquinov will help you to answer all these questions and will advise you on how to adapt your choices to your company’s global strategy (and not necessarily just your technical one). »

Chemistry and Life Sciences
« Inventions in the Life Sciences and Chemistry field are difficult to protect. They require both that the technical aspects are well understood by the Consultant and that the specificities of the patent law in these technical fields are mastered: it is a question of meeting the particular demands in terms of substance and form which do not exist in other fields.
Moreover, certain inventions cannot be patented, notably for bioethical reasons, whilst others need particular arrangements to meet the demand for sufficient description (the filing of biological material, nucleotide sequences in a certain format etc.) »
